Upgrading of the pedestrian, cyclist and vehicular facilities at the junctions and roundabouts surrounding the Liffey Valley Shopping Centre to allow for future expansion.
Key Elements
- Installation of pedestrian lights at 18 No. locations in the area which include cyclist phasing
- Alterations to existing phasing at 2 No. junctions to facilitate turning movements and pedestrians, this included new heads
- Alterations to kerb lines and islands at junctions to facilitate the new crossing points and additional lanes
- Installation of high friction surfacing at a number of locations with resurfacing of other junctions with high PSV stone
- Service diversions carried out including watermain, gas main, traffic ducting, power and communications
- Construction of new slip lane on Fonthill Road including all earthworks, drainage and all pavement layers
- Construction of new footpaths and cycletracks which required extensive bulk earthworks to reshape existing side slopes
- New roadmarkings and road signage erected throughout
- Design and implementation of all traffic management including liaising with South Dublin County Council Traffic Division and obtaining T2 licences
