Works on the Slane River to widen the existing channel, regrade the river banks and construction of retaining embankments to alleviate flooding in the area.

Key Elements

  • Working in an environmentally sensitive location and liaising with Inland Fisheries in order to carry out the instream works
  • Construction of new embankments including both reinforced earth and gabion construction
  • Modifications to the existing flood throttle and construction of new reinforced concrete flood throttle control
  • Modifications to the existing bank and channel including reno mattresses and gabion walling to reinforce the existing bank
  • Installation of temporary flume pipes, construction of dams and diversion of the existing river to carry out works
  • Design and Installation of temporary traffic management on the N7 3 lane carriageway
