Design and construction of new flood wall and associated bank stabilisation and removal of collapsed sections of existing flood wall from the bank and river bed.

Key Elements

  • Significant traffic and pedestrian management due to the location of the works at a busy junction including temporary relocation of traffic lights to accommodate the construction works
  • Construction of a reinforced concrete retaining wall to act as a flood barrier and bank stabilisation in order to reduce the impact of the hydraulic action of the River
  • Liaising with Inland Fisheries to facilitate the removal of the existing wall from the River and construction the new wall
  • Installation of rock armour on the banks to further reduce bank erosion
  • Reconstruction of the existing footpath and kerb line and the installation and upgrading of the existing service ducting
  • Full resurfacing of the carriageway on completion of the works
