This project involved the restoration of 3 no. stone masonry structures located around Fingal, Co. Dublin

Key Elements

  • Design and implementation of all Traffic Management including procurement of a number of road closures, shuttle systems and road narrows layouts
  • Partial construction of new stone masonry parapets and spandrel walls on all of the structures as well as restoration and repair works using reclaimed stone from the River bed where possible and locally sourced matching stone
  • Repointing and masonry repairs to the stone arches using hydraulic lime mortars
  • Liaising with Inland Fisheries to allow in stream works including scaffolding
  • Removal of vegetation including blockages in the barrel of one of the structures
  • Installation of post-tensioned ground anchors to repair the stone arch of the structures
  • Full resurfacing of the deck of two structures
  • Installation of concrete rubbing strips on all of the bridges to prevent further damage to the structure by heavy vehicles
